Ranger Guided Hike: Big Dig Trail

Join us for a ranger-guided hike on the Big Dig Trail.  This leisurely hike focuses on learning about the scientific expeditions in Tule Springs focusing on the Big Dig. The trail is 2 miles long over uneven terrain with gravely surfaces, some steps, and steep slopes. This program is for park visitors of all ages.

Participants should plan on arriving at the park at least 15 minutes before the start of the program to give them enough time to check in at the front desk.

Need to Know

  • Pets are not allowed for safety purposes.
  • Minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Program is weather dependent and may be cancelled without notice. Check the website for updates before you head out.
  • Most of the Big Dig Trail is not appropriate for wheelchairs or mobility devices.

  • Sun protection

What to Expect

  • This is a ranger-guided hike along the Big Dig Trail.
  • The trail is 2 miles long over uneven terrain with gravely surfaces, some steps, and steep slopes.
  • This hike will last about 2-2.5 hours.
  • There are no facilities (restrooms, water, etc.) on this trail.
  • The educational content of this program is introductory level.

  • The $3 per person (kids 12 and under are free) entry fee applies.
  • There is no additional cost for this program.
  • No registration required
